Valley Plus held its first meeting over 9 years ago when 30 residents gathered in the Methodist Chapel in Marlow Bottom. It is now thriving, with 150 Members, and currently a waiting list.
Our aim is to inform, support, campaign where appropriate and generally serve the interests of the over 50’s in Marlow Bottom and Seymour Plain.
We meet on the last Tuesday of the month at 2.00 pm in the Methodist Chapel in Marlow Bottom. Usually, the first half hour is allocated to an exchange of information and views on relevant local issues, and this is followed by a talk of about an hour from an invited speaker. The meeting finishes with tea and biscuits. Valley Plus does not meet in August and in early in December we hold a Christmas social.
Special meetings in the past have included an Activities Fair, a Health Forum, Hustings for the local candidates at election time and a tasting tour of the Rebellion Brewery! Current issues of concern are the NHS and the possible closure of Marlow Cottage Hospital.
A special tea is being organised for our AGM at the end of March this year when we will celebrate 10 very successful years of Valley Plus.
