Golden Years 2025

5 Essentials of Living Well

On Thursday 30th October, BOPAG hosted The Golden Years 2025 at Bourne End Community Centre in conjunction with The Princes Centre and kindly funded by the Heart of Bucks Community Fund.

The Golden Years 2025 was a vibrant and informative event focusing on the art of ageing well and is an annual celebration dedicated to supporting older people and inspiring positive ageing.

BOPAG were honoured that Dame Mary Berry, the much loved doyenne of cooking & baking, came along to officially open the event. Other attendees included the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Pippa Kirkbride, the Cabinet Member for Health & Wellbeing at Buckinghamshire Council, Councillor Isobel Darby, and the Deputy Cabinet Member for Health & Wellbeing, Councillor Carol Heap. More than 40 exhibitors filled the hall, each representing one or more of the 5 Essentials of Living Well: Nutrition, Hydration, Physical Activity, Cognitive Stimulation, and Social Stimulation.

Visitors were able to explore a wealth of information, resources, and opportunities designed to help older adults live life to the full, whilst enjoying free refreshments and cakes with exclusive goodie bags given to the first 150 visitors! The event also featured demonstrations from popular local exercise classes and a lively performance by the ‘Sing Your Pain Away’ choir, bringing both energy and joy to the event.

Two expert talks also took place: Dr Joanna Layng spoke on “The Importance of Good Nutrition & Hydration,” followed by a presentation by accomplished physiotherapist, Karen Blagojevic on “Building Resilience: Keeping Fit for Function,” providing practical advice for maintaining independence. BOPAG extend their heartfelt thanks to the exhibitors, speakers, volunteers and attendees who made the day such a success.
