With 2015 being the International Year of Soils, there is no better time to get composting at home and transform your organic waste into a valuable resource for your garden. It is also the perfect time to become a Master Composter in Buckinghamshire! Don’t miss this opportunity to join a band of enthusiastic local volunteers, free training and support given by the Buckinghamshire Waste Partnership.
Master Composters carry out 20 hours voluntary work a year, acting as ‘composting ambassadors’ in their local community. The team of volunteers help local people compost by working with local groups like gardening clubs, schools, attending fairs, holding talks, chatting to friends and neighbours, helping get started or problem solving, writing articles and much more .– wherever you feel you can be of most help!
The benefits to Master Composter volunteers, along with giving back to the community, will be the opportunity to attend further specialist workshops and trips out – all for free along with being with like-minded people. All you need is enthusiasm.
By viewing your food and garden waste as a resource you can have a positive effect on the environment. Encouraging more people to segregate food and garden waste and compost at home is a good place to start.
One full day’s training covers the basic elements of home composting and waste management. We are looking to recruit Master Composter volunteers. To find out more contact us via email composting@buckscc.gov.uk or call Jeannette on 01296 387195. More details are available at www.recycleforbuckinghamshire.co.uk
